Gianfranco A. Pietrafesa is a partner in the firm of Cooper, Rose & English, LLP, with offices in Summit and Rumson. He is a member of the firm's litigation and corporate groups. He was admitted to the state and federal bars of New Jersey in 1989. He is also a member of the bars of New York, the District of Columbia and the United States Tax Court.
As a litigator, he has experience in both the trial and appellate courts. His litigation practice is focused primarily on corporate, commercial, employment and land use matters. As a corporate attorney, he has counseled clients on a variety of business, corporate and commercial matters, including the sale and acquisition of businesses. In 2002, Mr. Pietrafesa was selected by the New Jersey Law Journal as one of 40 distinguished young lawyers worth watching in the next decade.
He received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1989, where he was an editor of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal. He received his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1986, where he studied accounting. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a Law Secretary to the late Nicholas G. Mandak, the Assignment Judge for the Passaic County Vicinage of the Superior Court of New Jersey, in Paterson.
Mr. Pietrafesa is the author of numerous articles on litigation and corporate matters, which have appeared in the New Jersey Law Journal and New Jersey Lawyer, the Magazine (many of which are posted on www.crelaw.com). He is a contributing author, on the subject of evidence, to New Jersey Federal Civil Procedure, published by New Jersey Law Journal Books. He also serves on the Editorial Board of New Jersey Lawyer, the Magazine.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Corporate and Business Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association as well as the Inn of Transactional Counsel. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the District XII (Union County) Attorney Fee Arbitration Committee and previously served on the District XII (Union County) Attorney Ethics Committee. He also served on the Hawthorne Board of Education for seven years.
